The crystal clear warm waters of the Mar Menor are only 15 minutes away and are a magnet to lovers of watersports such as sailing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, scuba and snorkelling on the marine preserves or just simply swimming – 253 km of coastline in all. Murcia, the regional capital is an easy 25 minute drive by motorway over the mountains. This bustling city contains a large number of monuments and fine buildings and is sometimes known as the baroque capital of Spain. It is also the best shopping area in the region. The port city of Cartagena is a 25 minute drive south and is also well worth a visit. A city since pre Roman times, it has a wealth of interesting monuments even a Roman amphitheatre. The Roman vs Carthaginian fiesta here is not to be missed. The local airport of Murcia (San Javier) is 15 minutes drive and is served by several low cost airlines, Alicante airport is 45 minutes drive.
