Polaris World update for March 2009We have been in Spain over the last couple of weeks. One of our tasks was to sign for our property at Condado de Alhama (one of the penthouses style properties) which we were very pleased with. We completed our snagging a couple of days prior to signing and only found a couple of very minor things, so we were very pleased. We visited Condado, Mar Menor, Las Terrazas and La Torre this time. La Torre Golf ResortThe Intercontinental La Torre Golf Resort hotel has now officially opened. We were given a guided tour and it is looking excellent. It contains several lounges, a couple of restaurants, bar, indoor and outdoor pool, gym and a spa (Polaris were just finishing off the Spa which will be run by ESPA as at the Mar Menor hotel). I took quite a few photos which can be seen here ... This is the last major construction work at La Torre with just the fitting out of some shops outstanding. Condado de AlhamaCondado de Alhama is starting to look really good now. The course is in the process of being seeded and is presently a weird yellow-green colour from the special sand underneath. Several of the greens are turfed and the lakes are starting to fill. The El Foro resort centre is an imposing square structure which should have the regular Polaris supermarket, restaurants, bars etc ready mid summer. Polaris have started work on the driving range and practice holes, which they hope will be ready for June this year. Dates for the first 9 holes of the course are June/July and the second 9 holes September/October. The lake at Las Islas is almost completely lined now and we could see that Polaris were turfing down from the gardens to the waterline, all this is 'over the fence' as we understandably can't get access to this area yet due to construction. Photos on our website at... Mar Menor Golf ResortThe security wall is nearly complete making obtaining photos more "challenging". I did manage to get a couple of photos showing progress particularly to the rear of the apartments where roads, lighting, gardens etc are well under way. Many of the villas in the new section are being rendered too. The latest photos can be found here... Terrazas de la Torre Golf ResortWe managed to get access to the site once more and were pleased with the way that phase 1 area of the resort has been finished off. Phase 2 (penthouses) is ready to go with all of the cranes in place so we expect activity in this area soon. There is a temporary building almost ready which will house a bar/restaurant and probably a pro shop and supermarket prior to the resort centre being completed. The golf course is ready for seeding and parts have been turfed (near lakes and the greens) - but at present I have not been given a firm date for completion. La Torre is only about a mile away though and has all the facilities. Again photos can be seen here... We will be out in Spain in about a month's time and hope to have more photos then. |
